The IGNFA Movie Club operates from New Hostel Auditorium, Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy (IGNFA), New Forest, Dehradun. The auditorium boasts of a seating capacity of 120 people and a fairly decent picture and sound projection system. For a larger audience size beyond 120, the nearby Hari Singh Auditorium springs into action. The IGNFA Movie Club is an equal-opportunity screener, and films of all ages, colors, themes etc. find themselves screened much to their delight, in front of an enlightened audience. While a vast majority of the movies will be in English and Hindi, every effort is made to provide adequate representation to films in other languages as well.
The Club runs on monthly contributions from IFS Officer trainees of the Academy. Strictly no contributions are accepted from elsewhere, mainly to maintain and guard our independence, artistic freedom as well as discretion.
The club is growing slowly from a closed exclusive Academy club consisting of Officer trainees and Faculty members alone, to an open inclusive and interactive forum of like-minded officers, faculty members, scientists, research scholars, students and their family members from Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE), Forest Research Institute (FRI), Forest Research Institute University, Wildlife Institute of India (WII), and various schools inside the New Forest campus.
